Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in a certain part of the body. As simple as this may seem, it is one of the most devastating diseases to date. 7.6 million people die from cancer every year. For years, scientists have searched for medical breakthroughs to successfully fight cancer.

Why does this break your heart?

  • There are many different types of tumors, but they are most widely represented as malignant or benign. A benign tumor is a tumor that is not a risk to the body it inhabits. A malignant tumor is a risk to the body it inhabits. There are many ways to prevent cancer, but most rely on simply keeping healthy. Sometimes cancer can be genetic and is therefore, something that simply can't be prevented. For the most part though, cancer is preventable and stems from the source of bad diet and unhealthy lifestyles. There are many treatments for cancer, but the most prominent one would be chemotherapy. Chemotherapy works by barraging the area which the tumor inhabits with toxic radiation. Chemotherapy is the most effective and most prevalent cancer treatment in the world today.

‍Why should other people care about this heartbreak?‍

Cancer has no cure and 7.6 million die each year from different types of cancer, that means that around 1500 people a day die from cancer. It can affect any age of person. This not only affects adults but also their children. It is also a concern because it can form based on genetics meaning that if we don't find a cure then it will keep sprouting up in future generations. Plaguing the future of the world with a terminal illness. This is a problem because if it is not stopped a portion of the human race could die off. The fact that it kills is bad enough, but what is even worse is also that it tortures the victims who have it. Making their life worse and worse for the short time most of the people have left. It can cause the sufferer to lose weight at a rapid pace making their life already short and excruciating but making it even worse by the possibility to starve them.

App Features

The app will connect people with people with the same and similar conditions. It will give ways to prevent cancer, and a way to see what cancers are and a description all if not most types of cancer (malign, benign, and each organ type. It will also inform people how cancer is contracted, and ways to connect to and donate to cancer. It will also post individual's cancer stories that way the person that the story came from and other people know that they aren't alone.

  • Cancer stories- The app will have a feature that provides personal stories of people who have witnessed the tolls that cancer takes on them.
  • Cancer Connection- An app feature that will allow people to connect to other people who have same and similar conditions.
  • Cancer Prevention page- Feature that gives ways to prevent cancer.
  • Cancer Description- A feature that will bring to light what most or all cancers are.
  • Donations- It will give you different ways to donate towards different cancer preventing things or studies for cancer.
  • Specific Donations- will list a few different cancer patients that are fighting towards a cancer free life but struggling to pay for their treatment, and give the specific way to help provide treatment money. (link to blog feeds or specific organizations that do this already so we won't have to do the legal work, or have a non-profit)
  • Words of Encouragement- A feature that links to places you can go to write words of encourages or do things like give teddy bears (young cancer patients).
  • Other Sources- links to other web pages that share a variety of different information.
  • Famous People: Famous people who have overcome cancer with the help of great doctors and new medicine.
  • In the Light- bringing up causes of cancer that people do not share very often.
